Sophie Chew is a journalist focusing on migration and displacement, labour, and politics, principally in Southeast Asia. Her bylines have appeared in the South China Morning Post, Southeast Asia Globe, Radio Free Asia (English), and Rice Media.
She has lived in Singapore, London, and New York City, and is currently based in Hong Kong, where she is a junior reporter at the South China Morning Post. She has also worked as a freelance editor, working primarily on books about Singaporean politics and current affairs.
She obtained her M.S. degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where she was a Stabile Investigative Fellow and which she attended on a Fulbright Scholarship. She also holds an LLB (Hons.) from SOAS, University of London.
